Our Wood Destroying Insect Inspection Process
Protect your valuable commercial investment with our comprehensive wood destroying insect inspection service. Begin by scheduling an inspection with our trained and licensed termite inspectors. Once your inspection is confirmed, we follow these systematic steps:
Pre-Inspection
Contact our office to arrange a date and time for the inspection. Our team will provide instructions on how to prepare your property for the inspection. For example, relocate storage away from interior storage walls, clear access to sub-area panels, attic openings, and areas under sinks. This ensures the inspector has unhindered access to all potential areas of pest infestation, leaks, or damage.
The Inspection
The inspector will first consult with you to address any questions or concerns. Next, using a probing device, the inspector will examine accessible wood members for signs of wood-destroying pest damage. The inspector will also identify conditions that could lead to damage or infestations, such as wood in direct contact with soil, gaps in siding or trim boards, or water draining against the building.
The inspector will then proceed through the entire interior of the commercial building, checking along window sills, baseboards, and under all sinks for signs of infestations, leaks, or damages. The attic will be visually assessed from the access opening for signs of damage or infestations. If the building has a raised foundation, the inspector will then crawl under the structure, looking for signs of wood-destroying pests, subterranean termite mud tubes, powder post beetle exit holes, and carpenter ant frass or bodies. Finally, the inspector will review the findings and recommendations with you before concluding the on-site visit.
Post-Inspection
A detailed report will be generated on the NPMA-33 form, outlining the findings, recommendations, and, in some cases, the estimated cost to remedy any issues. This comprehensive written report will clearly show the locations of findings and their recommendations, along with cost estimates. A separate file will include photos of most findings upon request. An email containing the full report will be sent to you within 1-2 business days (our normal turnaround time, subject to special circumstances). Reports can also be sent via traditional mail if preferred.
